Chinese farmers build transformers

What have you been doing with your old damaged car – sending it to the scrap yard? If you are in China, you’ll be surprised to learn that a group of farmers have been turning all that scrap metal into Transformer figures and then selling them.

Farmers turned entrepreneurs transform old car pats into their favorite Optimus Prime and Bumblebee figurines.

The transformers these farmers are creating include figures as large as 12 meters (39 feet), which fetches their company, Zhangqiu Hongshang Steel Technology about 100,000 Yuan (approx. $16,300). The smaller action figures sell for as little as 1,000 Yuan ($160).

Company General Manager, Wang Shijun says:

We go to the waste metal recycling centers to buy (the metal), we look for parts from cars. It takes about 10 to 15 days to make the big ones. The small ones take about two to three days.

The transformers made from scrap metal are made in various shapes, colors and sizes and have become hot selling objects in China.
