Superhero movies enjoy huge success at the box office, barring a few exceptions, but making such movies isn’t cheap. Making films inspired by comic book characters is now a yielding industry, so whether it’s a hit or a flop, a lot of cash goes into making each of these films. Lots of money means lots of it literally, to have idea, here’s a list of five most expensive superhero movies ever made.

Spider-Man 3

The final film in Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy, Spider-Man 3 grossed over $890 million worldwide, which made it financially the most successful film in the Spider-Man trilogy and also found rank in top 35 highest grossing films ever. Raimi was scheduled to direct the fourth part of the film, but owing to a feud with Sony, Raimi pulled down the project.

The Dark Knight Rises

 Christopher Nolan directed The Dark Knight Rises was released in 2012 and was made for a cost of $230 Million. The final installment in Nolan’s Batman film trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises was sequel of 2005’s Batman Begins and 2008’s The Dark Knight. Despite what critics may think about the film it grossed over $1 billion worldwide and is placed at the 16th spot for the highest-grossing film of all time. One of the best films of 2012, this is also currently the fourth highest grossing superhero film ever produced.

Released in 2012, The Avengers despite its far-stretched star cast of superheroes only grossed slightly above $1.5 billion worldwide, but it became the first Marvel production to enter the $1 billion ticket sale earnings list.

X-Men: The Last Stand
