5 Simple Home Remedies to Fight Pimples

We have tiny glands called sebaceous glands present in the pores of our skin. These glands produce sebum. When the skin sheds, some of the dead skin cells are held back by the sebum, thereby clogging the pores. This condition is seen most commonly during puberty since the skin is thicker then. The more the amount of sebum produced, the more the blockage which leads to the growth of bacteria, which in turn causes infection leading to inflammation of the skin. This is the cause of pimples, every teenager’s nightmare. Although they’re nothing to be ashamed of, none of us prefer walking around with them. So, here are a few remedies which might help you out!



Honey is beneficial for your pimples in many ways. It not only helps in controlling the oil, which is the root cause for pimples, but also nourishes your skin, leaving it smooth. It also has anti-inflammatory properties which relieve the swelling caused by pimples. It also works as an anti-septic, killing the bacteria. Apply some honey on the pimples and leave it on for around 30 minutes before washing it off. Repeat this regularly to see the results.



Along with its anti-inflammatory properties which help control the redness, swelling and pain, garlic also has anti-bacterial and anti-septic properties which help control the growth of bacteria. The compounds present in garlic are effective in removing acne scars. Take a few garlic cloves, crush them and apply them on the pimples. However, if it starts burning, wash it off immediately. Else, leave it on for a couple of minutes before washing it.



Cucumber is a great agent to nourish the skin and is also effective for acne. It holds the tissue of the skin tightly and helps in cleaning the skin by avoiding the build-up of dead cells and removing impurities. Cucumber has Vitamin E which helps in fighting off acne scars. Take a few pieces of cucumber and blend it. Add a little yogurt to this paste and apply it on the pimples. Let your skin absorb it for around 45 minutes before washing it off. You could also follow it up with ice cubes if you like.



Potato has properties which help it to absorb the oil on your skin, thus preventing clogging of skin pores. The components in potato also help in removing the impurities on your skin. Apart from this, they also aid the growth of new cells. Extract the potato pulp by grating it and then rub it on your skin for a couple of minutes. You could also apply the juice. Leave it on for twenty – thirty minutes before washing it off.



Mint has Vitamin A which is a great agent in controlling the oil on the skin. This helps in cleaning the pores. It also helps in purifying the blood and fighting bacterial activity. Mint has anti-oxidant properties which leaves your skin feeling smooth. All you need to do is take a few mint leaves and crush them into a paste. Smear it on the affected regions and leave it on for around 15 minutes. Wash it off with plain water. Repeat this for effective results.
