5 Ways to Get Rid of Dark Lips

Lips are delicate organs and are only composed of 3 to 5 cellular layers while the skin on the face is made up of 16 layers. They dry up fast and should be taken good care of. Sometimes, activities like smoking, consuming alcohol and other beverages with caffeine lead to the darkening of lips. It can also occur due to hormonal imbalance, stress, using low quality cosmetics and exposure to sunlight. If you’re a victim to dark lips, don’t worry! Here are a few remedies which will help you out!

Almonds are known for their anti-oxidant properties which leave your skin smooth and supple. The Vitamin E in almond oil shields your skin from the UV rays and prevents further tan. It is rich in nutrients and helps in providing an even tone for your lips. Take a few almonds and crush them. Mix the powder with milk and apply it on your lips. Leave it on for ten minutes before washing it off. Repeat this regularly. If you don’t want to take the trouble of doing all that, simply smearing almond oil and massaging your lips would be good too.

Now, it isn’t put on the list just because it leaves a pink stain. Beetroot has anti-oxidant properties and is rich in Vitamin A which helps in blood circulation. Moreover, it aids the repair and production of cells. Take a beetroot, grind it and extract its juice. Smear it on your lips and massage for a couple of minutes. You can leave this overnight. Repeat every day for effective results.

Olive Oil

Olive oil contains polyphenols which shield the skin from particles that might cause any damage. The presence of Vitamin E and Vitamin A make it a great moisturizer. It also helps in repairing damaged skin and regenerating skin cells. Add some sugar to olive oil and use this to massage your lips. Scrub gently for 2-3 minutes and wash it off. Repeat this regularly. If you don’t prefer using sugar, plain olive oil would also be okay.

Fuller’s Earth

Fuller’s Earth clay acts as a natural bleach and also gives your skin its own glow. It is known for its absorbent properties, cleansing the skin and clearing the pores. In the process, it removes all the impurities. Take Fuller’s Earth powder and add some honey to it to make a paste. Honey is another moisturizing agent which will help soften your lips. Apply this all over your lips. Leave it on for around 5 minutes before washing it off.

Rose petals

Rose is an excellent anti-oxidant and works as a great moisturizer. It helps in repairing damaged skin cells and also in regeneration. It is also known for its anti-inflammatory properties and its ability to protect the skin from sun damage. Take a few rose petals and crush them to make a paste. Add a little butter to it and massage it over your lips. Another great remedy is to use rosewater and honey. Mix them both and smear on your lips. Repeat this 3 to 4 times every day until you see results.
