5 Fast Home Remedies for Dark Underarms

Who would want to wear full sleeves during summer? Every girl loves showing her arms off! One thing that comes in the way is dark underarms. Most women suffer from this. One can get dark underarms due to shaving, build-up of dead skin cells or even because of using deodorants. Apple Cider Vinegar


Apple Cider Vinegar has amino acids which help in getting rid of the dead skin cells which are one of the causes for dark underarms. It contains malic acid, lactic acid and has anti-septic and anti-bacterial properties which help in removing the impurities in your skin. Take a cotton ball, dip it in some apple cider vinegar and gently rub it on your underarms. If you have sensitive skin, it is best to use it with water. However, if you experience any kind of irritation, stop using it and try a different remedy.

Coconut Oil


Coconut oil not only acts as a natural deodorant but also nourishes your skin, thanks to the presence of Vitamin E in it. It has anti-bacterial and anti-oxidant properties to get rid of the toxins in your skin. It promotes the growth of new cells and also prevents sagging of skin. The best way to use coconut oil for dark underarms is to massage it onto your underarms for a couple of minutes. You’ll have to do this twice a day. Another method is to do this with sugar and leave on for 15 minutes. Repeat this once every 2 days.



Potato contains an enzyme which helps in lightening the skin and hence, acts as a natural bleacher. The starch content and its anti-oxidant properties play a great role in making the skin soft. It also aids the production of new skin cells and removes toxins. All you have to do is massage your underarms with potato slices for a couple of minutes and wash them off after half an hour. Do this twice a day until you see results.

Baking Soda


Baking Soda is another great agent to help get rid of dead skin cells and help in skin renewal. It also has bleaching properties and gets rid of the oil on your skin. Moreover, it also functions as a deodorant. Mix baking soda with rosewater to make a paste. You could also use plain water. Massage this paste onto your underarms and leave it on for around 30 minutes before washing it off. Follow this method every other day.



Lemons are known for their anti-bacterial and anti-septic properties which help in preventing infections. The citric acid in them fight bacteria and hence keep away bad odor. They also act as natural bleachers and get rid of dead skin cells. For this, take a lemon slice and massage your underarm with it for around 5 minutes. Do the same on the other side. Leave it on for another couple of minutes before washing it off. Repeat the same every day.
